Having just ended the L.A. County Fair, we’re no strangers to food novelties–things like the Krispy Kreme double cheeseburger or the bacon-flavored cotton candy. Still, we had to blink twice when we read on LAist that Umami Burger is hopping on the fusion-food train with the debut of their doughnut ice cream sandwiches.
So far they arrive in three flavors:
- peanut butter & jelly ice cream with jelly doughnuts (you can figure out how they do that for yourself.)
- cinnamon toast ice cream in a cinnamon roll
- chocolate ganache ice cream in a … wait for it… chocolate peanut butter doughnut
Does it sound crazy? Yes. Does it sound delicious? OH YES. After chowing down on all the Fair goodies you would think the Fairplex team would be tired of novel foods, particularly the sugar-laden ones, but we think we might be able to make room for one more little treat…
All Southern California locations have them so if you have an incredible sweet tooth stamina, the next food novelty is just around the corner. Can you say om nom?
