L.A. Weekender: Fireworks, foam and Farmers Market

August 16, 2013

I would like to start this L.A. Weekender post by saying that we know — we haven’t been posting as frequently as we usually do. As we get closer to the Fair, our attention begins to focus on our Fair blog: hotblogonastick.com and preparing for all the fun and excitement that’s about to happen once the Fair starts!

We will still be posting on Fairplex Insider occasionally but it’s not until October that we will be posting with our usual frequency. That being said, you can still visit this blog for event industry news, a few snapshots and behind-the-scenes of the Fair posts and a couple fun items every now and then.

So without further ado, this week’s L.A. Weekender:

Tchaikovsky Fireworks Spectacular 2013: Begin your Friday night with style at the Hollywood Bowl. Since 1969, the Tchaikovsky Fireworks Spectacular has delighted Los Angeles guests with an exhilarating blend of music and fireworks. The L.A. Philharmonic and a number of brass bands, drum corps and color guards come together for this annual celebration. Tickets are available at http://www.hollywoodbowl.com

5k FoamFest: We’ve done color runs. We’ve done mud runs. We’ve done neon runs. And now, we are doing a foam run — specifically: FoamFest 5k. You don’t have to worry about being sweaty from the summer heat. Run a 5k and burn some calories the fun way with our foam zones (think bubble bath galore) and an energetic vibe that can only come when you are running and playing with bubbles at the same time.

L.A. Taco Fest: The 3rd annual L.A. Taco Fest is happening this weekend. Food vendors, community organizations, artists, musicians and more will come together to celebrate the talent and tacos of Boyle Heights and East LA.  It’s all about celebrating local businesses, organizations and the community as a whole.

Galaxy vs. Read Madrid: Take a break from the baseball mania (playoffs will be here before you know it) and cheer on Galaxy as they play against Real Madrid on Saturday night, 7:30 p.m. Tickets start as low as $20.

Claremont Farmers and Artisans Market: Shop for your week’s groceries and enjoy some time in the sunshine at the Claremont Farmers and Artisans Market. Shop organic produce, specialty arts & crafts and flowers and plants. Located on Second Street between Indian Hill Blvd. and Yale Ave.
