Our summer crops are doing great in The Farm at Fairplex! Five acres of fruits, vegetables and herbs, and our team is busy harvesting already. Take a look at what we’ve been up to over the past few weeks:
Our Farm team has been busy drying a number of fruits and vegetables for future use. The combi ovens are being used to dry peaches and nectarines, which will eventually be used for chili sauce and chili peach chips.
We’re also drying radishes, white turnips, daikon and Nero Tondo radishes. We’re soaking them in a simple marinade of teriyaki sauce, red wine vinegar, tumeric, cayenne pepper flakes and leftover peach and nectarine juice from our previous efforts at slicing and dying. Delicious!
In our nursery we’re growing a variety of herbs and vegetables: peppers, eggplants, cinnamon yams, sweet, purple, cinnamon Thai and lemon basil, chives and others.
We’ll be selling them to the public for $1.50 each! The Farm will be open Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. but please call us first at (909) 630-6965 to ensure availability.
These are just a few of the activities happening in The Farm right now. Add to that our Farm Dinners, the chickens, rabbits, turkey and quail, not to mention our preparations for the Fair and we have a full plate!
