L.A. Weekender: This Isn’t An April Fools Joke

April 1, 2016

Happy Friday! We’re ready to relax and enjoy soak up the warm weather this weekend. If you’re looking for something fun to do, check one of these out!

LA Weekender Fairplex

The Shining at Old Griffith Park Zoo (April 1): If you’ve been on social media at all today you know that April Fools Day is in full effect. Why not add to the weirdness by having a scary movie night at the (supposedly) haunted Old Griffith Park Zoo? The Shining is a classic, after all. Grab discount tickets with Goldstar.

Natural History Museum’s First Fridays (April 1): First Fridays are back at the Natural History Museum! This after-hours party includes guided tours, scientist-led discussions, and music. Click here for more info. (P.S. Do a quick search to see which museums in LA offer free admissions for #FirstFridays!)

World of Dance (April 2): If you love urban dance you will love this event. World of Dance is an international dance competition featuring some of the best in the business, including some of your favorite YouTube dance stars. The LA event will be here at Fairplex this Saturday. Immerse yourself in the world of urban dance and music for this truly unique experience. 2 p.m. – 10 p.m. Tickets are still available here.

PVW Fun Run/Walk (April 2): The annual Pomona Valley Workshop (PVW) Fun Run/Walk for Adults with Disabilities is this Saturday, also on our campus! Come participate and support this organization — the 1K Walk starts at 8:00 a.m. and the 5K follows at 8:30 a.m. More info here.

Roaring Twenties Street Jam (April 1-3): It’s the ultimate throwback weekend in Los Feliz this weekend with the Roaring Twenties Street Jam. The event includes walking tours of vintage architecture, a dance party (with lessons), a silent film screening and a late-night speakeasy in the basement of Mack Sennet Studios beginning at midnight on April 2. Tickets and additional info available here.
