This is by far our busiest weekend of the year (so far.) From jousting to hay baling to chugging beer to art and miniature trains, the adventures will be non-stop for us. Keep reading for a glimpse of what this weekend will look like for us:
Celtic Faire (March 19 & 20): Sheep herding, river dancing, jousting, live music, food and brews, animals, knights and shopping galore awaits you at Celtic Faire! Grow Pomona (March 19): The Farm plays host to our National Agricultural Day celebration this Saturday. Join us for rope making, olive oil tasting, corn grinding, ice cream making, stick horse races and more. Food trucks and Dr. Bob’s ice cream will be on hand for sustenance! You can also say hello to our newest Farm residents — our chicks and rabbits and speak with our partners about how agriculture impacts Southern California. This event is completely free (including parking!) and takes place from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Visit fairplex.com for more info.
Fairplex Garden Railroad (March 19 & 20): Adjacent to Celtic Faire, the Fairplex Garden Railroad will be open this weekend! Take a tour of the oldest and possibly largest garden railroads in the world. Our docents will be available to answer any questions you might have. This exhibit changes throughout the year as dedicated volunteers continue to build and improve on this beloved attraction. Admission is free. For more information visit fgrr.org.
BeerFit 5K (March 19): The BeerFit 5K and Brew Mile is taking over another corner of campus as runners take up the challenge of drinking 20 oz. of beer while knocking out a one-mile run, all in the name of charity. For more info, visit runbeerfit.com.
ArtReach: The Art of Metaphor (March 18-20): The Millard Sheets Art Center is open this weekend for the third weekend of ArtReach: The Art of Metaphor. Art patrons can browse pieces created by high school students throughout the region and even purchase if desired. Admission and parking are free to the public. Cristo Vive (March 19 & 20): Easter is right around the corner. Watch this compelling Spanish stage performance / adaptation of the film “The Passion of the Christ” held in Expo Hall 9. Three performances per day, $20 adult admission with $10 parking. For more information, click here.
Everybody’s Bird Mart (March 20): Last, but certainly not least, Everybody’s Bird Mart returns to Fairplex on Sunday. Shop the latest accessories, treats, cages, health products, toys and more for your exotic birds. Admission is $10, children 11 and younger get in free. For more info, click here.
