Meet The Bloggers

Hi, I’m Renee and I write the Fairplex Insider blog to give you an up-close-and-personal look at the events and shows here at Fairplex. Insider also shares info on trends and things we like. I started the L.A. County Fair blog, Hot Blog on a Stick, in 2008 and starting blogging on Fairplex Insider in 2010. Prior to becoming a PR specialist at Fairplex I was a journalist covering everything from local politics to education to health to feature stories.

I love music (I’m the unofficial president of the Squeeze fanclub), reading (High Fidelity, Like Water for Chocolate and Life of Pi are faves), writing (including handwritten letters and cards – a lost art), animals (especially the two incredibly intelligent cats, stinky dog and intrepid gecko who share a house with me) and food. Shoes are my weakness. I think British accents are mesmerizing. My dream is to be a National Geographic photographer. I hate to fly. I could watch “I Love Lucy” episodes 24/7. If I win the lottery, I’m going to buy a zoo.

Hello everyone! My name is Juan Madrigal and I am so excited to keep you updated on everything going on at Fairplex. Blogging has always been one of my hobbies, so as you can probably imagine, I am looking forward to handling all of Fairplex’s social media accounts.

Although I recently started working at Fairplex, I am no stranger to the company since I was part of the Junior Fair Board in 2010, worked at the Sheraton Fairplex Hotel in 2013-14 and wrote for Hot Blog On A Stick during LACF 2014. Some of my hobbies include, but are most definitely not limited to cycling, reading and traveling. I have visited 15 different states in the last 5 years, and the one that captured my heart was New York. Despite loving SoCal and its crazy weather, I just know that one day I will trade in the dryness of our days for NYC’s cold winters and humid summers. I guess that’s the price I’ll have to pay!

To contact me with any comments, questions or blog topics please email me at or leave a comment in the box below. I look forward to connecting with all of you, our fellow readers! Cheers!

Hello readers! My name is Heather and I’m the social media coordinator at Fairplex. I started as a writer for the LA County Fair blog, Hot Blog on a Stick in 2012 and gradually moved my way over here. I’ll be dishing on all the fun events happening on campus and keep you up to speed on what we’re doing in the community.

My favorite part of Fairplex is The Farm. It’s so peaceful and beautiful. If I could do my writing out there every day, I would! Like Renee, I’m a huge music person. If you’re looking for a fellow rap, EDM or rock fan, I’m your girl. I also enjoy spending time with my loved ones, running on the beach and the occasional trip to Disneyland.

Feel free to contact me at or leave a comment. I would love to hear from you! Thanks for joining us for another great year at Fairplex.

  1. Hi Richard here, I’ve been posting your events on my website fo rover 8 years now, just trying to get the word out. I also do a lot of videos on YOUTUBE. my channel is, R.E.Nunez I’m also an artiest, I work with wood, making wood toys like they use to make. And I give them to the da gallery here in Pomona, so the kids can paint them and take them home, it’s all free. I call them Scrappy Toys. Just recently I was on a T.V. commercial With Honda the Helpful People about my toys. The reason I call them Scrappy Toys, is because the wood I use, I find on the streets. I was wondering if you need anyone, to walk around the Fairplex, and talk about the History and the future of the Fairplex. When you see my videos, you can see me in action I’m also a historian and Iived in Pomona all my life, born here also. My friends call me Ren, hope to hear from you soon. Also we can go places where visitors don’t even know they exist. We can talk with the workers, watch them do their duties and how important their jobs are. And what it takes to get the fair going every year Take care Ren
