It’s going to be another beautiful Southern California sunny weekend and while we’re grateful for any rain (hello, California drought), we aren’t complaining about the summery sunshine!

Here’s what we have suggested for you this weekend:

Shop Venice Beach Day (Feb 26): You can’t go wrong with Venice on a Friday afternoon! Shop, dine and enjoy the laidback atmosphere of the boardwalk during Shop Venice Day. Enjoy boutiques, restaurants, special attractions and art.

Free Museum Friday (Feb 26): The Long Beach Museum of Art and Museum of Latin American Art are both offering free admission all day this Friday. Visit their websites to view specific exhibitions and events.

Insane Inflatable 5K (Feb 27): It’s less of a run and more of an obstacle course, and we are all about that! The Insane Inflatable crew is setting up a course that will make each mile more fun than the last. If you have been to Fairplex before, you know there is more than enough space for all of it. Registration and additional information is available here.

Budweiser Clydesdales and Fan Fest (Feb 28): We love having the Clydesdales at the Fair and hosting them whenever they come through Los Angeles. This weekend they will be at L.A. Live for the Lakers and LA Kings Fan Fest. Click here for more info.

Behind-the-Scenes: ArtReach 2016

Installation has started for ArtReach: The Art of Metaphor. For those who don’t know, ArtReach is an annual high school art exhibition held at the Millard Sheets Art Center (MSAC) each year. We stopped by MSAC to see how things are progressing.

ArtReach graffitiinstallation 1024x576 Behind the Scenes: ArtReach 2016 Every year we dedicate a wall especially for the artwork of special needs high school students. We had graffiti artist Michael Stewart come in and paint the title, themed “I Am…”

“I Am…” submissions are laid out on the floor and will be hung once the graffiti title is completed. We can’t wait to see the final product!

Fairplex Snapshot: Dr. Suess Meets Pomona

Education is a core focus at Fairplex and we love connecting with the Pomona Unified School District when the opportunity presents itself! Today, our community outreach team stopped by each elementary school in the district with a Dr. Suess care package as a celebration of Read Across America (Dr. Suess’ birthday) next week.

Each package contained a Dr. Suess classic and tools to help teachers continue to build a love of reading in our young students. We appreciate all that our local educators do to provide the best education possible for the youth in our community.

Fairplex Weekend Recap: Expo-mania

We had quite the busy weekend at Fairplex! Because we’re such a large campus, it’s common to have several events going at once, which is how we found ourselves playing host to four shows in two days!

In one hall we had folks shopping for their next home improvement project at the Spring Home & Garden Show, while in another we had gold and treasure enthusiasts networking, shopping and swapping prospecting tips.

In yet another hall we had Bride World Expo where wedding planners, bridesmaids and soon-to-be brides and grooms shopped wedding dresses, cakes, decor, photographers, videographers, florists and all the other Big Day essentials.

Meanwhile in Expo Halls 6 & 7 there was an overflow of animals and their pet owners. Along with the usual crowd of dogs and cats there were pigs, llamas, a miniature pony and camel (yes… a camel.) We loved seeing all our guests, two and four-legged alike, having a great time!
