Art and community go hand in hand, which is why it’s such a big priority for us at Fairplex. We’re starting the year off with visual art programs for all ages at the Millard Sheets Art Center. Check it out!

Guests try their hand at painting during a Palates & Palettes session

Family Workshop (Jan 9): This month’s family workshop is all about our art center’s namesake Millard Sheets. Families will hear about his art technique and learn about the impact his mosaics have made on Los Angeles. Children can also make mosaics of their own to take home! Although this month’s event is filled to capacity there is still time to sign up for next month’s workshop. Click here for more information.

Palates & Palettes (Jan 9): Paint + wine = a good time. Each month our Palates & Palettes party highlights a famous artist from a particular geographic location and guests, guided by an experienced art teacher, try their own hand at painting. Meanwhile, cuisine and wines from the artist’s homeland are served. This month we will be drawing inspiration from Gustav Klimt, hailing from Austria. Adult Art Courses (Begins Jan 18): Get a jump start on those New Years resolutions and try your hand at art! Beginning the week of Jan. 18th we will be hosting evening classes for watercolor, pottery and figure drawing. Please visit the Millard Sheets Arts Center website for class times and registration.

Junior Potters (Saturdays): Last but not least, we are hosting youth pottery sessions. Designed for children ages 7-13, this class introduces students to the pottery wheel and the world of ceramics in a professional art studio. Visit our website for detailed programming and class times.

Art continues to play a big part in Fairplex programming and we’re introducing new classes, workshops, exhibitions and community partnerships as we move into 2016! To learn more about the Millard Sheets Art Center, visit us at tlcfairplex.org.
