HARD Day of the Dead may have dominated our campus last weekend, but things of a quieter, but no less exciting, nature on Fairplex campus. SoCal MakerCon (Nov. 8): SoCal Maker Con celebrates innovation, inventive minds and creativity in Southern California. Robot wars, drone demonstrations and all manner of inventions will be at Fairplex this Saturday, including sessions with some of the top entrepreneurial minds in the region. Veterans Appreciation Festival (Nov. 8): Celebrate the veterans of our nation at the free Veterans Appreciation Festival aboard the USS Iowa. Take tours of the battleship, enjoy live music, children’s activities, food trucks and a parade. For more information visit www.pacificbattleship.com.
Claremont Tour de Foothills and Brews (Nov. 8): If you’re in our neck of the woods, consider one of Claremont’s “Tour De” weekend events. Get on your bike and join the Tour de Foothills of Claremont, beginning and ending in The Village. You can bike as little as 31 miles or as many as 100. Register here. If the great outdoors isn’t in your game plan for this weekend, consider the Tour de Brews instead. Sample local breweries and wineries, enjoy food trucks, live music and a fun crowd. The Festival 2014 (Nov. 8-9): CRAFTED at the Port of Los Angeles is hosting The Festival this weekend: a two-day affair featuring some of the world’s greatest and smallest artisanal beer, cider and mead makers to share their stories and knowledge with festival attendees.
