The weather has been playing games all week, from hot and sunny to overcast and cold and we are ready for a solid stretch of sunshine. Still, it is Los Angeles and that means the weather change is hardly a reason to cancel plans outdoors or otherwise! There is a lot going on in the city this weekend so read to see what we have listed for your L.A. Weekender:
The Chainsmokers: “But first, let me take a selfie.” The duo who brought the “Selfie” song to the airwaves are giving a free performance at Universal City Walk today at 3:30 p.m. as part of the EXTRA television segment hosted by Mario Lopez and Maria Menounos. For more information, visit the EXTRA website.
Topanga Earth Day: In honor of Earth Day next week, Topanga Earth Day is a weekend-long event that features music, speakers, ecological artists, innovative environmental demonstrations, non-profit organizations, sustainable solutions, organic food & beverages and native planting. Kids can partake in activities like the Prayer for Peace flag painting workshop, musical instruments, tree planting, storytelling, face painting, loom and hand spinning and an Alice Wonderland tea party. For more information, visit their website here.
The Sandi Spetnagel Annual Fun Run/Walk 1K: Pomona Valley Workshop presents The Sandi Spetnagel Annual Fun Run/Walk at Fairplex to support PVW’s programs for adults with disabilities. Join us Saturday morning and wear your favorite bunny ears or Easter bonnet. Prizes will be awarded for the best bunny & bonnet! For more information, click here.
NBA Playoffs: The Lakers might not have made it to the playoffs this year *moment of silence* but the Clippers are kicking off the series against the Golden Warriors tomorrow night at the Staples Center. Watch the game at your favorite sports bar or try to score tickets, starting as low as $60.
Easter Sunday at Fairplex: PFB/Purpose Church will be holding their outdoor Easter services at Fairplex in the Grandstand this Sunday at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. Each service features worship bands and 150-vocal choir and orchestra. Free parking and admission is available at Gate 17 on Fairplex Drive.
McKinley’s Grille is offering a special Easter brunch menu that includes a kids buffet, Caradamom french toast with sweet ginger butter, apple wood-smoked bacon, pastries, omelets, maple-glazed honey ham, black garlic-rubbed Colorado leg of lamb, seared Atlantic salmon, an assortment of salads, pastas and spring vegetables and a number of Easter treats.
