It’s hard to believe it’s already August (a.k.a. the last month of summer). That just means we are obligated to enjoy every weekend of this month to the fullest, starting tonight. Keep reading for a weekend full of fun:

Summer X Games: Start your weekend in Downtown LA at the action-packed ESPN X Games. Check out a variety of competitions including motocross, skateboarding, car racing, and BMX as professional athletes compete for bronze, silver and gold.

Friday Festivals: The first Friday of any month is perfect for hitting up a festival or two in Los Angeles. Downtown is home to Figat7th’s Downtown Festival which includes happy hour specials, dancing and live music. On the West Side, Abbot Kinney’s First Fridays provide all the shopping, dining and a sunset-on-the-beach atmosphere. If you happen to be in the 562 part of L.A., consider hitting up First Fridays Long Beach for their “Summer of Love” happenings: jazz music, street performers, classic cars and live art.

The Hollywood Bowl: Legendary artist Tony Bennett will be performing at the Hollywood Bowl tonight. Listen to his classics, pack a picnic and enjoy a warm Friday evening under the stars.

Splash Dash 5k: We are hosting another 5k this Saturday and it looks like it’s going to be our most memorable race yet. In the Splash Dash 5k, runners make their way through the Fairgrounds and get soaked with water as they pass Splash Zones. At the end of the race, participants can meet up with their friends and enjoy the sight of dancers and Zorb balls, take a turn on the zip line and enjoy icy summer treats in the hot summer sun.

L.A. Waterfront Summer Festival: While it’s a bit of a drive for us, San Pedro is hosting the LA Waterfront Summer Festival  as part of their 125th birthday celebration. The festival features live entertainment, food, craft beer competition and a tasting garden. A carnival filled with rides and games will be available for the kiddies.

Lazy Sunday: Sometimes enjoying a weekend “to the fullest” means taking a few hours to quiet down and soak in some sun. Spend an hour or two browsing your local farmer’s market or take a walk in the park. Maybe even just take a nap. If you’re in our neighborhood and feel like going out, consider the Candlelight Pavilion and enjoy a lunch or dinner with a live performance of The King & I.

We hope you enjoy this first weekend of August as much as we do!
