A Basque Village popped up today at the Fair. It’s part of the festival that celebrates the three influencing cultures on the Basque people—French, Spanish and Basque. And it’s happening from now until Sunday, Sept. 18. Each day celebrates a different part of the culture. Saturday showcases French culture with foods like Napoleons and éclairs and Spanish flavor is celebrated Sunday with tapas, paella and Flamenco. Entertainment includes several cooking shows that teach authentic Basque foods like cobbler and crepes, a mime, local rock bands The Anonymous and Union of Saints, and Flamenco dancing. If you’re at the Fair this weekend, stop by Festival Plaza (near the lagoon and rose garden) and soak up some Basque culture.
