TGIF! We are ready to enjoy a couple afternoons in the California sun. Here are some fun things to do in L.A. this weekend:
Icona Pop: If you’re feeling particularly spontaneous, drive down to Universal City Walk for a free performance by Icona Pop (best known for their hit “I Love It”) today at 1 p.m. at the 5 Towers stage. Other acts include EDM DJ Mystery Skulls, pop band My Crazy Girlfriend and Disney Channel star Blake Michael. Why not take a half-day and start the weekend early?
Santa Monica Pier Aquarium: The Santa Monica Pier Aquarium is offering free admission on Fridays throughout February. The aquarium recently opened the remodeled Dorothy Green Room which features interactive displays and two new live animal exhibits. There is no better place to learn about conservation than a visit to an aquarium followed by a walk along the ocean. Today’s hours are 2 p.m. – 5 p.m.
Pomona Art Walk: Be a part of the growing Pomona art community at the Pomona Art Walk. Hundreds of local artists display their works along the streets and in more than two dozen galleries in the city. Elements include paintings, photography, ceramics and jewelry. Many shops, studios and restaurants are open late as part of the festivities. Visit the Art Walk on Saturday from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m.
Quinceañera Expo: The Quinceañera Expo is coming to Fairplex this Sunday for a full day of ball gowns, makeup, tiaras and party planning. More than 100 trade professionals will be here presenting the latest trends for gowns, tuxedos, beauty products, hair, decorations, photography, dance, music, limousines, cakes and other Quince essentials. Admission is only $7; kids 12 and under are free. For more information visit www.fairplex.com.
