In exactly ONE week the L.A. County Fair will be open and running for the month of September! We can’t think of a better way to celebrate Labor Day Weekend than with some good old-fashioned Fair food and exploring all the new exhibits this year. There is still plenty to enjoy right now and it looks like it’s going to be another beautiful August weekend:
Dodgers vs. Red Sox: Friday night. Baseball. Fireworks. Catch the Boston Red Sox tonight at as they face off against the Dodgers at Dodger Stadium. Nosh on Dodger dogs and garlic french fries and cheer on the boys in blue, then head down to the field to enjoy a fireworks show with your family. The game begins at 7:10 p.m. The fireworks start directly after the end of the game.
Manhattan Beach Open: Carrying on the sports theme, the 53rd annual Manhattan Beach Open showcases some of the fiercest beach volleyball you will ever see. Watch athletes–including past Olympians–compete for the $200,000 prize. The tournament runs all weekend long.
Jazz at LACMA: If sports and loud crowds aren’t your cup of tea, visit Downtown LA and enjoy performances by some of L.A.’s most talented jazz musicians at LACMA. This Friday night features the Cross Hart Jazz Experience, a high-energy band with a fresh take on the genre. 6 p.m. Free
Food Truck Festival: If you’re already missing our Food Truck Fridays, you can compensate at the Corona Gourmet Food Truck Festival. More than 20 food trucks will be available for the tasting including some of our favorites like Belly Bombz, Cousins Maine Lobster, Ragin’ Cajun and Slummin’ Gourmet to name a few. A beer garden will also be open. Live music and other activities will also be available. Saturday, 11 – 6 p.m.
We hope you enjoy your weekend! We plan to take it easy because next week we will be living and breathing all things FAIR!
Happy Friday,
The L.A. Weekender
