Last month’s crops have been harvested and it’s time for a new season of growth on The Farm! While many of our beds are currently empty, a new crop of lettuce has already sprouted and are looking quite healthy:
Did you know we have a Farm nursery? Our young plants are cared for in the back, right across from our rabbit and chicken barns.
The Farm is more alive than ever these days! We can hear the cheeping of chicks in the barn, and a walk into one of our old stables reveals a whole rescue project in the works.
One of our volunteers found this little guy and his two siblings seeking shelter on the side of the road; their mom was hit by a passing car.
Luckily, our stables are the perfect home for them, warm and sheltered from the rain and hot sun. They’re enjoying fresh lettuce from The Farm and the company of the baby chicks.
When they’re old enough, they’ll make their home with the older rabbits on the other side of the stable.
While we weren’t expecting any baby rabbits for awhile, we’re certainly glad to have these little guys at The Farm!
Fairplex is absolutely beautiful in the spring. The weather is warm and breezy, rainy days are few and far between (although El Nino might have something to say about that this year…), and best of all, our whole campus is blooming in flora and fauna.
Squirrels, woodpeckers, robins, rabbits and chickens call Fairplex their home and the chirping and chattering of our little friends can be heard all day long outside our office windows.
We took a walk down to The Farm this morning to see how our crops are doing and came upon these beautiful flowers in the photo above. We’re going to have to make the most of this weather before the summer heat rolls in!
Last weekend we hosted an exclusive Chef Dinner at Fairplex! We invited local chefs, brewers, vintners and restaurateurs over to cook for each other on The Farm. Dishes were cooked on the grill and in our wood-fired oven, like this delightful concoction:
It was a great way to network and discuss new ideas in the food & beverage industry. All in all, a great day!
We hosted our annual Neighborhood Holiday Cookie Decorating Party last night. It’s one of our favorite community events of the year!
Kids were able to take photos with Santa, decorate sugar cookies, play games and do crafts. We welcomed about 120 families this year and hope to have many more from our neighborhood join us next time.
Today our team members played Santa to the surrounding communities and dropped off poinsettias and a Fairplex holiday greeting card to all our neighbors!
We would like to take this time to thank our neighbors for letting us be a part of their community. We appreciate their involvement with us. Happy Holidays!
The Budweiser Clydesdales have made Fairplex their home for the month! They can be seen grazing in the infield every morning, while their Dalmatian friends Chip and April play in the grass. We love it!
The Fairplex Garden Railroad is ready for the holidays! See the festivities for yourself this Sunday. We’re open from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. and admission is free.
