Thank you to all who came out and had fun at the 2023 Los Angeles County Fair! We honored our 101st anniversary where all were celebrated and continued the legacy of delicious fair food and fun carnival rides. We also saw the return of many talented community performers, an exciting concert series, and various blue-ribbon winners throughout our 16-day run.
During the fair, we hosted special themed weekends where we celebrated and highlighted many cultures and communities. Opening weekend was “Latinx Weekend” followed by “AAPI Weekend,” and finally, “Black Excellence Weekend” hosted by CEEM (Cooperative Economic Empowerment Movement). We also held a special Mother’s Day brunch and lunch where guests were able to enjoy a delicious buffet and spend quality time with mothers and family. Speaking of incredible moms, 35 baby lambs and 22 baby goats were born during the LA County Fair this year!
There were plenty of competitions at the fair, such as the SHARP cheerleading competition and a live BBQ competition! Over at the farm, we also had many livestock competitions where FFA and 4H high school students entered their animals to be judged on body, presentation, behavior, and control. We also welcomed back Girl Scouts for a take-over day and it ended with a massive friendship circle at the Clock Tower! Along with welcoming Girl Scouts from all over, we also had over 17,000 students join us for our FairKids Field Trip Program. They got to experience interactive educational activities around the fairgrounds, including hands-on gadgets and robotics, and access to curriculum designed to be easily incorporated into daily classroom lessons.
During the last weekend of the fair, we were lucky to be visited by Food Network’s Carnival Eats show! Host Noah Cappe got to sample and learn about various food items such as Biggy’s Cappin’ Crunch Chicken Sandwich. Additionally, Noah interviewed fair guests and got to hear their opinions on their favorite treats. We also celebrated Thummer’s 75th birthday with a surprise party at the Lagoon Stage, where fair guests sang “Happy Birthday” to our lovable swine mascot and even got special giveaway birthday treats from Thummer himself!
Overall, the 2023 Los Angeles County Fair was a huge success and we can’t wait to see everybody again next year!
