Last year we gave out a few fun facts about the history of funnel cake. Like most traditions, this Fair food staple has evolved and grown bigger over the years. What used to be a simple deep-fried treat with powered sugar sprinkled on top has turned into a decadent sugar-infested bonanza.
Last night I tried the Fair’s version of the funnel cake: battered doughy yum with whipped cream, strawberries, powdered sugar and a towering dollop of vanilla ice cream in the center of it all.
