September 2, 2012

Labor Day Weekend: A time for relaxation, catching some sun and of course, that American food staple the barbecue!
The kings and queens of the grill engaged in friendly but hardworking competition for a ribbon prize (first, second and third) and showed their skills to Fair guests and judges alike. Each entry smelled and looked delicious, whether it was ribs, a plump chicken or some delicious looking shrimp!

The judges taking notes on the many entries for the contest.

The four categories were Fish, Poultry, Beef and Pork. Prizes were also offered for Best Use of Wood and Best in Show.

First place winner of the fish category. This is Scott’s 23rd year in the barbecue contest. His spicy Louisiana Lightening shrimp jambalaya recipe made him a most deserving recipient of his prize. In addition to his winning recipe he also created a delicious peach dump cake.

John Palomino from Chino, CA won first place in the poultry category. His barbecued duck, grilled to perfect and doused in honey orange glaze made for a savory display.
