Lip-smackin' fun at Best BBQ Sauce and Chili Contests

September 9, 2010

While all the Best BBQ contestants tended their fires out near Wilderness Ridge on Sunday afternoon, judges tasted entries in the Best BBQ Sauce and Best Chili contests.

Chili samples ready for a second taste.

There was plenty of lip-smacking conversation as the judges scooped spoonfuls to sample sauces and chili. Each spoonful was carefully placed on a plate with each entry number, so a second taste could be enjoyed to pick just the right winner.
And the winners were:
2010 Best BBQ Sauce:
1st prize, Rab Smith of Lakewood for his BBQ Sauce
2nd prize, John Sitz of Covina for his Piggly Wiggly Mop Sauce
3rd prize, John Lybrand of Chino Hills for his Spicy Peach BBQ Sauce.
2010 Best Chili:
1st prize, Peggy Linberg of Upland for her Super Bowl Chili
2nd prize, April Burton Rowland Heights for her Mom’s Chili
3rd prize, Linnaeus N. Simkin of Pomona for his Best Chile Con Carne Ever.
