Cinnamon, Spice and Sage arrive to LACF!

During one of our daily walks to The Big Red Barn, we ran into Sky Shivers and the following baby goats! Sicne it has become a Fair tradition, Sky named our new furry friends….say hello to 2-weeks old Cinnamon and Spice…they are brother and sister.

And now, meet Sage! She may seem a few days old, but she is actually 3 weeks old! We hope these three adorable creatures become good friends!

Fair wouldn’t be the same without the newborns!
How many do you think we’ll have this year?

The Countdown Begins…9 More Days!

With only 9 days to go until Opening Day, there is no denying it…things are definitely busy here on the grounds.
From crack of dawn to the break of day, there is always someone working on something that will make your experience more memorable – whether it may be painting some signs, installing lighting, bringing in the Farm animals or taking pictures of what is happening on our grounds, our staff is working at a nearly 24/7 pace now.
Speaking of pictures, here are a few taken during my afternoon walk. Hope you enjoy them!

Food at The Farm

One of our favorite parts of the Fair this year is the newly expanded Farm, one of the largest urban farms in the county! It’s the perfect place to rest after cheering on the pig races or saying hello to the cows, sheep and chickens at the Big Red Barn.

Rows upon rows of organic vegetables, fruits and herbs are grown in this space and a nice breeze is always blowing, but the best treat, by far, are the wood-grilled flat breads that are served here.
Every morning our food & beverage teams pick fresh ingredients from the Farm and bake fresh flat breads in our Farm oven.

After the flat breads are done baking, our team puts together a delicious mixture of farm-fresh herbs, vegetables and fruit to create healthy, refreshing wraps. Toppings include tomatoes, arugula, caprese, basil, sausage and bacon.

If you’ve already eaten lunch, we recommend trying the dessert wrap, which combines strawberries, agave nectar and other toppings to satisfy your sweet tooth.

So far we have personally tried The Caprese and the Fennel Sausage wraps and both are a win in our book. Healthy, filling and most importantly, delicious!
