Popnology: Tech-nically Fabulous

Popnology, the LA County Fair’s newest exhibit, is drawing crowds on only it’s second day.  Whether it’s the Oculus Virtual Reality experience (“That’s had a steady line all day!” says volunteer Danielle), the interactive musical instruments including drums, guitar and piano or the controllable robots; Visitors can’t seem to get enough.

Over the sounds of a bustling crowd, you can hear the refrains of the Star Wars theme and other well known science fiction music.  Also available for viewing are the bike from Tron: Legacy, the Batmobile from the Schumacher films and even the De’Lorean from Back to the Future.  (Doc let us borrow it on the condition we won’t change anything in the past.  Darn!)
What are you waiting for?  Come see (and play) for yourself!

The Countdown Begins…9 More Days!

With only 9 days to go until Opening Day, there is no denying it…things are definitely busy here on the grounds.
From crack of dawn to the break of day, there is always someone working on something that will make your experience more memorable – whether it may be painting some signs, installing lighting, bringing in the Farm animals or taking pictures of what is happening on our grounds, our staff is working at a nearly 24/7 pace now.
Speaking of pictures, here are a few taken during my afternoon walk. Hope you enjoy them!

Holy Hole in a Texas Donut Batman!

batmobile3If you haven’t seen it, the original Batmobile from the 1960s Batman television series is on display at the NHRA Museum here at the Fair. If only the Dynamic Duo were sitting in it. Call me odd, but Adam West – sigh! Holy young girl’s heart fawning over a man in tights Batman!
