America’s Kids Gets Ready for the Fair

The America’s Kids exhibit provides a creative and educational space for children at the LA County Fair year after year. We got a sneak peak of the fun our creative team has in store for September, and we’re happy to share it with you!

Sets are getting a fresh coat of paint and walls will soon be filled with amazing Lego creations. All of the Lego sets submitted for the competition will also be on display throughout the fair, so get ready to be wowed.

Hundreds of Legos are waiting to be put together… by you! There will be an open play area with building tables and we can’t wait to see what amazing creations are built there.

But the Lego area is just a small part of what America’s Kids has to offer. A knight’s castle, a doll house and more game areas give the kids a hands-on experience so they can have fun while they learn. So, parents, come enjoy the air conditioning, while your kids have the time of their lives.

#LACFNaturalHigh Photo Round-Up: The Final Weekend Feels

HOW is Fair 2015 almost over? It seems like only yesterday we were standing in awe of Popnology, walking through Luminasia, and trying Chicken Charlie’s newest deep-fried food.

And yet somehow, four weeks later, we are here at the end of another great run, with a ton of awesome memories to look back on. Here are some of our favorite Fair shots that you all posted:

When Disney met LACF

Today we had a very special guest visit Popnology.

Bob Gurr, one of the original Imagineers for the Walt Disney Company, stopped by to say hello to fans! Even if you’ve never heard of Bob, you have definitely experienced his work.

Bob is one of the masterminds behind Disneyland classics like Autopia, the Haunted Mansion, Matterhorn Bobsleds, and the Disneyland Monorail just to name a few.

We were thrilled to have one of the Disney greats check our Popnology exhibit, and it was quite a mind-bender to see him posing by models of the very attractions he designed!

Just another wonderful afternoon at the Fair…

The Engines Roar

Can you hear that rumble?

It’s coming from Thunder Alley, sponsored by the NHRA Motorsports Museum, and back by popular demand!

If you love anything fuel injected, engine exposed, or are just into gorgeous classic style cars, why are you still reading this?  Owners and former racers bring their babies for you to see and marvel at.

Have a seat in the helicopter on display at the Air Force Flight Museum, and gawk or gaze in wonder at the other machinery and flying marvels they’ve brought for you to see.  Don’t worry….nothing is armed!

Marvel at the dragsters, both the ones for adults, and those made for children!  I have to admit, the thought that 10-year-olds are going up to 85 miles per hour makes me wonder what I’ve been doing with my life!

Other exhibits include military vehicles, Drag safaris, trucks, and even boats!

Remember, Thunder Alley drives off into the sunset on our last day, September 27th.  Speed (not really!) on down before they’re gone!!

Fair Food Friday: The Final Round-Up

We hit you Opening Weekend with a deep-fried extravaganza (which we’re still recovering from, by the way). On Week Two, we went gourmet with a meal at Maria’s Italian Kitchen and visit to Terri’s Berries. And last Friday, we dove into a full on sugar coma when we sampled anything and everything sweet at LACF.

Now that we’ve had a little bit of everything, we’re ready to reveal our top three FAVORITE dishes we’ve tried this year.

Fair Food Friday: The Final Round-Up

1. The Gelato Churro Sandwich

Three words: cinnamon, vanilla and sprinkles. Need we say more? We’re crossing our fingers that these delicious treats will make their way back to us next year.

2. Tasti Chips

A Fair classic and must-eat on our list. Tasti Chips are by far one of our favorite things to munch on, whether it’s matched with jalapenos, cheese, or plain. So much yum.

3. Thai Food

Believe it or not, one of our go-to dinners is the Thai food stand, specifically their garlic chicken, pad thai and veggie combo. It’s filling, delicious, and a nice break from our usual deep-fried Oreos and Chick On A Stick fare.

Beat The Heat With A Few Cold Ones

The sun is out, the sky is clear and we’re just getting the party started here at the LA County Fair!

Sure, we know weather has not been great these past two days, but that doesn’t mean we cant beat the heat once at the Fair. Trust us – we’re experts at keeping cool. :)

One of our favorite things to do when it’s this hot is to hang out at the Wine, Beer and Spirits Marketplace. I mean, how could someone not like this place? There’s A/C, good food, good company and REALLY good drinks!

Don’t miss our final Craft Beer Classes this Saturday and Sunday!

Fair Snapshot: Carousel at Night

As much as I love the three new carnival rides, the Ferris Wheel and the Kiddie Carnival, I needed to close out the last Wednesday of the 2015 Fair season with something special.

This is precisely why I decided to end the night at our beloved Carousel.

Enjoy the picture I took as I waited for my turn to get on my all-time favorite amusement park / Fairground ride! :)
