63 Days and Counting…

Can you believe it? We’re just 63 days away from the 90th anniversary of the L.A. County Fair. One, it feels like just yesterday I was telling you about last year’s Fair. Two, the Fair is celebrating 90 years! That’s huge. I’m…well, I’m overwhelmed by all this. If the Fair looks this fantastic at 90, I’m hopeful for my future. I can just see it. “Why, Fair-ey Blogster, you don’t look a day over 75!” “Yes, and I’m actually 103. It’s all those hot dogs on a stick I enjoyed at the L.A. County Fair.”

Seriously, with only 63 days to go, it isn’t too early to plan your visit. We open on Friday, Aug. 31 – the earliest opening date ever for the Fair. We just couldn’t wait until September to see you! Opening weekend, Labor Day weekend, we have a ton of great savings and promotions. Visit our promotions page at lacountyfair.com for more details but I’ll tell you there is $1 admission for the first three hours of each of the four days (Aug. 31-Sept. 3; 3-6 p.m. on Friday, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday-Monday). There are soft drink and carnival ride savings, too. Check the website for details.

If you haven’t heard, we have a season pass that includes parking! We had a ton of people ask for the parking addition, so I think this will be very popular. You can still the admission pass without parking if you’d like.

There are a ton of special event days, including pre-Fair blood drives where donors receive a free ticket to the fair, so make sure you check out the entire calendar. I’ll be posting more about blood drives soon.

Ok, so start marking your calendars with me. You can almost x out today already!

68 Days to the Fair – Just Sayin’

What can be done in 68 days? Well, according to Livestrong.com, you can lose 13 pounds. Or you can wait with bated breath for the birth of an alligator or squirrel (60 days gestation period each) – pink and blue cigars in hand – or should that be raw chicken and nuts? You can learn how to speak Italian. Or you could be creating, building, painting, planting, organizing, conceptualizing, cooking and blogging your way to the greatest county fair in the world. That’s what we are doing here at the L.A. County Fair in the next 68 days.

Yes, it takes waaaaaay more than 68 days to bring our Fair to 1.4 million guests. The point is there are only 68 days until the opening of the 89th L.A. County Fair. And what a fair it will be! You will not be disappointed. What’s better than great rides, attractions, shopping and food? Great savings! We’ve listed our promotions and discounts on lacountyfair.com - take some time and peruse the savings!

Fair dates are Sept. 3 – Oct. 2 – we’re opening Labor Day weekend again, and you know what that means! $1 admission Saturday – Monday (Sept. 3-5) from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. There are drink and carnival specials throughout the three days so be sure to check them out.

We have a ton of special days where you’ll receive discounted admission, including Book Drive Thursdays, Ralphs Food Drive Fridays, College days, $5 after 5 p.m. Wednesdays-Fridays, blood drives – give a pint, get a free ticket to the Fair, specially priced tickets at Ralphs and online, and the super-amazing Season Pass (good everyday of the Fair for $29.95 for ages 6 and older). Whew! And that’s a brief list of the discounts!

Get to lacountyfair.com for a complete list of Pure. Savings. Because we are all about Pure. Fun. Can’t wait to see you in September. You’ll see me – first in line at the Hot Dog on a Stick stand. What? You Forgot already? Hello! What is the Fair-ey Blogster’s favorite food? I am GPSing all the HDOS stands on my Smartphone. It’s a huge fair! I can’t remember all the locations.

70 Days ‘Til Pure.Fun.

blue-logo-with-datesHoly cow! Does the counter on the L.A. County Fair website really say 70 days until the Fair?! Yes, it does. That’s only 1,680 hours away (actually, about 1,677). And have we got a show in store for you! We are so excited about the new attractions, Fair favorites (Hot Dog on a Stick! I haven’t had one since last year’s Fair), the carnival and especially our new layout! Our grounds have received an extreme makeover and we can’t wait for you to see it.

All the elements you love about the Fair will still be here. We moved the carnival closer to the center of the Fair and shifted all the shopping to a centralized location in the buildings and the adjoining tree-lined streets. Yellow gate (the one closest to the carnival) will move in a little closer and a special shuttle will jet (well, if you can “jet” at 5 mph) shopping-crazed guests to the shopping area. Basically, we are just moving things in a bit for easier navigation for our guests.

On the attrajurassicctions side we have knights and castles in America’s Kids, a whole new Pirate show in A Pirate’s Life, dinosaurs are roaming the Fair once more in Jurassic Planet (but this time they are ANGRY and they want out!) and Western Days and Rodeo Nights in FairView Farms.

The End of Summer Concert Series will rock your socks off. Acts will be announced July 12.

There are a ton of discounts, we have a wonderfully priced season pass. Drop by and see me, the Fair-ey Blogster. Whatever you do, do not miss the 2010 L.A. County Fair!! It is totally Pure.Fun.
