{"id":7954,"date":"2016-09-10T14:27:00","date_gmt":"2016-09-10T20:27:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.fairplex.com\/blog\/fairblog\/?p=7954"},"modified":"2016-09-10T14:27:00","modified_gmt":"2016-09-10T20:27:00","slug":"sport-and-the-fair-one-fun-combination","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.fairplex.com\/blog\/fairblog\/2016\/09\/10\/sport-and-the-fair-one-fun-combination\/","title":{"rendered":"Sport and the Fair: One Fun Combination"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>New this year to the LA County Fair is Let The Games Begin, an interactive exhibition filled with unique displays of rare memorabilia that allow guests to discover the who, how, when and where of the origins of each of the \u201cBig Six\u201d American Sports: Baseball, Football, Basketball, Soccer, Hockey and Golf.<br \/>\nThe goal is to show guests the different ways that these sports have evolved, the various iconic players and their significance in our daily lives.\u00a0<span style=\"font-weight: 300;\">Let The Games Begin will look at the way sports has become an integral part of our popular culture, especially as it is used in our everyday language.<\/span><br \/>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/oBvcVLDRvl4\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\"><\/iframe><br \/>\nGiven that the 2016 Summer Olympics just ended, the exhibit will present the history of both the Ancient and Modern Olympic Games. We\u2019ll cover how much the games have progressed \u2013 from originally having 6 sports and only allowing men to participate to currently having 30 sports and allowing women to participate.
