Ed Expo offers schools and teachers the opportunity to enter projects into the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.lacountyfair.com\/2008\/AttractionsCompetitions\/AmericasKids.asp\"><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">L.A. County Fair <\/span><\/a>as a class. Projects follow a theme, like California history. Walking through Ed Expo during the Fair offers wonderful insight into what students are doing, their creativity and imagination. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 10pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: Calibri;\">Drop-off for this year\u2019s entries was held earlier this month. I walked over to Fairplex 10 to see what was in store for this year and I was simply amazed at the talent I saw. From missions to photography to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fairplex.com\/blog\/fairblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/07\/totem-ed-expo.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-68 alignright\" style=\"float: right;\" title=\"totem-ed-expo\" src=\"http:\/\/www.fairplex.com\/blog\/fairblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/07\/totem-ed-expo-224x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"152\" height=\"173\" \/><\/a>sewing projects to scrapbooking \u2013 everything looked great. There are 1,225 entries this year from students in grades K \u2013 12. Beverly Oates from West Covina Unified School District delivered the entries from her district, everything from totem poles to photographs. \u201cThe teachers incorporate (the Education Expo project) into the mandatory part of the students\u2019 California history lesson,\u201d Oates said.<br \/>\n\u201cThen some is done as part of the science curriculum.\u201d She said the students enjoy participating. \u201cThey get to show their work off and their families come out to the Fair to see. It\u2019s an honor for their work to be here.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 10pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: Calibri;\">Teacher Christy Passoth from Chaparral Middle School in Diamond Bar has her students enter every year. This year they did poetry notebooks. \u201cI couldn\u2019t be prouder. They\u2019ve gone way beyond the parameters of my expectations. The kids who entered are just amazing.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 10pt;\">It&#8217;s heartening to see youngsters so excited about their studies.
