These folks take their party dips seriously. Actually their guacamole and salsa dips seriously.
Peggy Linberg of Upland won first place for the 2010 Perfect Guacamole contest with her Cobb-amole, a recipe incorporating the best parts of the classic Cobb Salad – crumbled bleu cheese, bacon and sour cream – into a chopped avocado mixture. Yum!
Second place in the guacamole category was won by Gayle Bauer of La Verne with her Guac Your World Guacamole that featured her own Fresh and Easy Salsa (Pico de Gallo) along with cilantro.
April Burton of Rowland Heights named her third-place winner Guacamole a la Mom that had flavors of a roasted serrano chile. Any Mom would be proud.
Tomatillos, serrano and habanero chiles were the stars of the first place winner for Best Salsa – Steve’s Super Salsa created by Steve Motisi of Claremont.
It was truly Salsa Deliciosa for second place Salsa winner Anna Marie Martinet of Pico Rivera. Roasted anaheim, yellow, serrano chiles and chile arbol gave this salsa a memorable flavor.
Third-place Salsa winner Teri Siciliano of Brea called her salsa Cowboy Caviar. The “caviar” combined white corn, black-eyed peas, black beans, white beans with jalapeno, serrano, yellow wax and habanero chiles.
