From all of us at Fairplex to you: Happy Halloween! Have a safe and festive evening.
Altars + lowriders + live music = En Memoria: our first ever Dia de los Muertos celebration! Join us this Saturday, Nov. 4 for the inaugural event. Here’s what to expect:
Altars: We’re partnering with local artists to build a community altar, where guests are invited to leave a photo of their lost loved ones for Dia de los Muertos. In addition to this, we’re inviting those participating in the lowrider exhibition to build their own altars next to their vehicles.
Lowriders: We’re inviting the local lowrider community to join us for En Memoria. We’ll be hosting a hop competition and displaying all the lowriders on the Fairplex infield. Show off your autos and check out what others are working on.
Live Art: Hilda Solis’ office has partnered with us to bring live art to En Memoria. Local artists will be creating beautiful pieces throughout the day.
Food: Our event partner, Dia de los Puercos will be whipping up some bomb tacos and taquitos for us, while Mi Cafecito Coffee will be serving up delicious beverages and desserts. We’ll also have an assortment of other food trucks available for grub.
We’re very excited to introduce this event to the local community and we hope you’ll join us for a full day of art, food, music and cultural celebrations. For more information on En Memoria, visit MiPOCOLA.com.
One of the best parts about having an urban farm in Los Angeles County? The weather is pretty warm all year long, meaning we always have crops in season.
Depending on the season, field trip students will be able to see an abundance of vegetables and fruits — pumpkins, egg plants, chilis, carrots, peppers, olives, apples etc — growing in our five-acre space.

Our auto education fundraising campaign ended last Friday and the results are in!
Thanks to our generous donors, we raised a total of $43,715 for the Alex Xydias and Pete Chapouris Center for the Automotive Arts! AXC, as the program is referred to, is a two-year program preparing high school students for a career in the automotive industry.
Donations from this campaign will go towards tuition fees, field trip costs and automotive equipment for our classes.
For more information on our auto program, and other non-profit programs, please visit TLCFairplex.org.
Artists Judithe Hernández and Patssi Valdez have greatly influenced the aesthetic voices of Latinas. You can see their work at the Millard Sheets Art Center as part of the Pacific Standard Time: LA/LA initiative.
From their childhoods in East Los Angeles to their experiences in the Chicano Civil Rights Movement of the 70s, both women have walked similar paths while thriving in their individual careers, thus inspiring the PST exhibit “One Path Two Journeys.”
We’re pleased to bring both artists to the Millard Sheets Art Center to discuss their work with us this Saturday. Join us as we chat with Judithe and Patssi and learn more about their inspiring lives.
What: “Artist Talk: Judithe Hernández and Patssi Valde”
Where: Millard Sheets Art Center (1101 W. McKinley Ave Pomona, CA 91768)
When: Saturday, Oct. 28, 2 – 5 p.m.
Parking available at Gate 1.
Every year our Community team hosts a neighborhood Halloween party for the families surrounding Fairplex!
It’s always a fun time: kids in brightly colored costumes playing games, getting their faces painted, picking up pumpkins and, of course, plenty of candy to go around.
Thank you to all the parents and children who participate each year! We love spending time getting to know our neighbors.
Good times this weekend at Fairplex! We had a lot going on (what else is new), between motocross at Red Bull Straight Rhythm, Oktoberfest festivities and the terrors of Into The Black. We like to share our weekend experiences through the eyes of our guests! Here are some of our favorites:

Pacific Standard Time: LA/LA is an exploration of Latin American and Latino art that stretches across more than seventy arts and cultural institutions in Southern California, including right here at Fairplex.
There’s no right or wrong way to get lost in art. Within the walls of his home, Cheech has his own way. Within the walls of Pacific Standard Time: LA/LA, we invite you to discover your own. For more art visit http://pacificstandardtime.org.
Today we, along with Cal Poly Pomona, the County of Los Angeles and the City of Pomona, announced our proposal to Amazon, the world’s largest online retailer and prominent cloud provider, as to why our campuses would make the best home for their second headquarters.
We are thrilled to move forward with our bid and look forward to the days to come. It has been a pleasure to partner with so many community leaders over the past few days. Stay tuned for updates as we move forward with our proposal.
