Reptile Super Show (Jan 7 & 8): See (and possibly take home one of your own!) reptiles and turtles, shop supplies, habitats and supplements, and attend educational workshops at the Reptile Super Show at Fairplex! This popular pet exhibit, located in Expo Hall 4, is a great place to take the kids for an educational trip, or to find a pet of their very own. More info available at http://reptilesupershow.com.

So Cal Pet Expo (Jan 7 & 8): Just a few expo halls away from the Reptile Super Show, the So Cal Pet Expo is also happening this weekend! Check out tons of pet care exhibitors, live entertainment, obedience demonstrations and author readings and book signings. Fairplex Weekend Recap: Reptiles, wine and mosaics

Rain or shine, it was packed at Fairplex this weekend. Even though we had to postpone The Music Run until April we still had a full house with everything else going on around campus.

The Reptile Super Show brought in all sorts of scaly, colorful guests and a few humans too icon wink Fairplex Weekend Recap: Reptiles, wine and mosaics It’s always fun to meet people who share a love of reptiles and check out the newest in pet care.

The Millard Sheets Art Center was busy all day Saturday with our first family workshop and Palates & Palettes session of 2016. We can’t believe our family workshops are already SOLD OUT for the next three months!

L.A. Weekender: Rainy Day Fun at Fairplex

Congratulations, you survived the first week of the New Year. If you had to return to work and school responsibilities like the rest of us then you’re probably just as ready for the weekend as we are! That being said, El Niño is here and we are staying close to home for this edition of the L.A. Weekender. Check it out!

Reptile Super Show (Jan 9-10): It’s the perfect rainy day excursion! Bundle up the kids and spend an afternoon checking out turtles, frogs, snakes, lizards and other reptiles at the Reptile Super Show. Pomona Art Walk (Jan 9): Downtown Pomona comes alive with art, music, food and shopping on the second Saturday of the month. The art walk is open from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. We recommend bringing an umbrella and rain boots for this one… at least the galleries and stores have roofs! For more information visit downtownpomona.org.

Palates & Palettes (Jan. 9): Take a trip to Austria via food, wine and art! We are kicking off our Palates & Palettes 2016 sessions with a night dedicated to the life of symbolist painter Gustav Klimt. Join us at the Millard Sheets Art Center as you paint with the guidance of one of our instructors and enjoy wine and food from Klimt’s native homeland. To sign up, please visit tlcfairplex.org/art. Music Run January Events at Fairplex!  The Music Run (Jan 9): We’re starting our “fun run” season with The Music Run. There is a DJ set up at each kilometer mark, spinning pop, rock, hip-hop, oldies and EDM. The best part? You choose the music. Click here to cast your votes. Asian American Expo January Events at Fairplex!  Asian American Expo (Jan 16-17): The Asian American Expo is all about food, entertainment and cultural experiences.

Check out the Anime Impulse video game, anime and manga experience, sample craft beers and ciders at the Asian Beer Fest, show your digestive prowess at one of the Eating Contests and dance all night during the Lunar Palooza! Swap Meet January Events at Fairplex!  Pomona Swap Meet & Classic Car Show (Jan 17): The first Swap Meet & Classic Car Show of 2016 is Sunday, Jan. 17. National Roadsters January Events at Fairplex!  67th Annual O’Reilly Grand National Roadster Show (Jan 29-31): We’re pretty sure every Southern California classic car lover will be at Fairplex for the Grand National Roadster Show.

Fairplex Weekend Recap: Reptile Super Show 2015

Thousands of cold-blooded guests took up residence at Fairplex this weekend at the annual Reptile SuperShow.

It’s not often we see so many colorful creatures in one place and it made for quite the visual in our expo halls.

Reptile enthusiasts of all ages came together to learn, chat and shop for the newest and best products for their beloved pets.

As one of the largest reptile shows in the entire world, “celebrity” appearances were inevitable. One of these stars was Frank, a 7-foot long water monitor lizard fondly known as house pet Mrs. Kipling on Disney Channel’s “Jessie.”

Other critters included albino snakes, enormous boa constrictors, bearded dragon lizards, chameleons of every color, frogs, turtles and geckos. All in all, a great weekend on campus!

Fairplex Garden Railroad (Jan. 11): On the second Sunday of each month, the Fairplex Garden Railroad is free and open to the public from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. See miniature trains journey through intricately detailed portraits of California history from the mid-1800s through the present. This is the oldest and largest public operating garden railroad in the United States and has been a staple of the Los Angeles County Fair since the early 1920s. For more information visit fgrr.org.

RailGiants Historical Train Museum (Jan. 10-11): Also free at Fairplex is the RailGiants Train Museum monthly open house. Take the whole family and check out historical trains and journey back to the glory days of the American Railroad. For more information visit railgiants.org.

Thousands of food and shopping vendors, live entertainment and cultural exhibits fill four of our expo halls for a weekend.

Slither into Fairplex This Weekend for the Reptile Show

reptile 150x132 Slither into Fairplex This Weekend for the Reptile ShowHappy New Year! The Fairplex family extends best wishes for a prosperous and healthy year to all our shows and guests.

It’s the start of a new year and we’re kicking it off in style with the Reptile Super Show this weekend. If it slithers or has scales, it will be here Saturday and Sunday. The Reptile Super Show is the world’s largest reptile show and breeders’ expo, according to organizer Ramy Guirguis. The show offers thousands of lizards, snakes, turtles, frogs and insects, plus all the supplies and accessories on sale at super low prices.

Besides having some amazing animals and products for sale, the show will feature several reptile-dedicated organizations on-site to promote reptile health, education and overall quality husbandry. So, it’s not just a place to purchase a new pet but learn how to care for them as well. Admission is $10 for adults and $6 for children. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. All the fun is in Fairplex 9.

The Fairplex Marketing & Communications Department has two brutus 150x150 Slither into Fairplex This Weekend for the Reptile Showof its own bearded dragons – Kathy and Brutus (formerly known as Heather, until we discovered he didn’t like being called Heather) – and we can attest to what great pets they make. So, if you are considering a pet reptile or amphibian or insect, stop by this weekend.

Vladae, The Russian Dog Wizard, Joins L.A. Pet Fair Line-Up This Weekend

The L.A. Pet Fair, the largest pet expo and sale open to the public, keeps getting bigger and bigger. Three shows – Pet Expo USA, APEX – The Aquarium & Pond Expo, and Reptile Super Show – will be taking over three buildings here at Fairplex, Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. One ticket lets you into all three.

VladaePage 2 150x150 Vladae, The Russian Dog Wizard, Joins L.A. Pet Fair Line Up This WeekendJust added is Vladae, The Russian Dog Wizard, an international star in the dog training field. He’ll be at Pet Expo USA in Fairplex 6. Vladae speaks five languages, one of them “doglish.” People call him “The Russian Dog Wizard,” a miracle worker, or just “Vladae 911″ because he is able to help with their dogs when others fail.

Vladae will be joining other celebrities at Pet Expo USA, including Shorty Rossi of Animal Planet’s “Pit Boss,” Linda Blair, founder of the WorldHeart Foundation; Larry Thomas (the “Soup Nazi” from “Seinfeld”), Mackenzie Phillips, Megan Blake, and Max Wasa. APEX – The Aquarium & Pond Expo in Fairplex 7 will be literally a “Water World” with fresh-water, salt-water, and outdoor pond displays. Reptile Super Show in Fairplex 9 offers thousands of lizards, snakes, turtles, frogs along with all the supplies and accessories. More than 200 vendors from all over the world will feature the largest selection of captive-bred reptiles and amphibians. Visitors can learn from experts about breeding reptiles (with eggs hatching during the show). Huge snakes and even a two-headed turtle will be showcased. Find out more at reptilesupershow.com.

A two-day pass is available Saturday for $20 for adults, $12 for ages 12 and under. One-day admission is $12 for adults, $8 for ages 12 and under. Attendees will receive a coupon for $5 admission good any weekday of the Fair.
