Fairplex Weekend Recap: Farm Dinner & CicLAvia

We like to share our weekend experiences through the eyes of our guests! ICYMI, here’s what we had the pleasure of participating in:

Hess Collection Farm Dinner
Our sold-out Farm Dinner was a success! Each course was paired with wine from The Hess Collection. It was perfect weather for an al fresco dinner on Friday night:



CicLAvia Heart of the Foothills
We were super excited to learn that we would be a part of the inaugural CicLAvia Heart of the Foothills event this past Sunday! For those who don’t know, CicLAvia is an event that takes places throughout Los Angeles County, and shuts down long stretches of road for cyclists and pedestrians.

The Heart of the Foothills route wound through the cities of Pomona, Claremont, San Dimas and La Verne. Each city had a dedicated hub along the route; we were part of the Pomona Hub.

Our Creative team built a mini LA County Fair, complete with Fair food stands, farm animals, crafts and photo opps our mascot, Thummer the Pig! Our street team was also on hand with fun giveaways, including Fair tickets and exclusive Fair pins.

All in all, it was a great day. We enjoyed spending time getting to know our neighbors more, and to work with the City of Pomona to make our Hub a success.

We had a great time both with our guests at Fairplex and out in the community. Thanks to all who joined us for another weekend of fun!

We take the farm-to-table movement to the next level with our Farm at Fairplex Dinner Series! Guests of this unique dining experience watch our chefs select vegetables, fruits and herbs straight from our crops for a truly authentic farm-to-table dinner.

New Farm Beer at McKinley’s Grille

farm to foam 239x300 New Farm Beer at McKinleys GrilleIt’s no secret that our Farm at Fairplex crops are harvested daily for McKinley’s Grille (our hotel restaurant.) But now we’re stepping up our game and extending The Farm’s use beyond farm-to-table… we’re going farm-to-foam.

We’ve collaborated with Claremont Craft Ales to create a Farm-to-Foam series, brews infused with ingredients from our Farm! The first of this series is a blonde ale is created using kumquats and lemongrass from our specialty crops with a 5.3% ABV.

Next time you dine at McKinley’s Grille, try pairing it with our Bucatini Bolognese or Farm Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad for a true farm-to-table dining experience.

Wine and dine al fresco at Fairplex

Al fresco dining is always a plus in Southern California and we try to host them as much as possible with our Farm at Fairplex Dinner Series.

Next month (March) we are inviting master sommelier Michael Jordan to bring his favorite California wines to The Farm for our second dinner of the year. Enjoy award-winning wines paired with ingredients taken straight from our Farm. View the menu below:

Fairplex Snapshot: Our urban farm

We ran into Chef David Teig on our urban farm this afternoon, gathering fresh ingredients for tonight’s farm-to-table dinner. This evening’s fare includes chicken stuffed with brioche, black garlic and leeks. Looks like it’s going to be a delicious meal!
