Oktoberfest Must-Knows

If you’re planning to hit Oktoberfest, here’s what you SHOULD know:

Oktoberfest2014 07 300x199 Oktoberfest Must Knows1. Lots of beer Oktoberfest is all about the beer. Whether you’re into IPA’s or into something lighter – something like Bud Light – we have a beer for everyone! Our beer selection is quite lengthy, so do yourself a favor and visit our website for a full list of available beers. Trust us, you’ll want to do this so you have more time to drink!

2. Lots of food  Drinking makes people hungry. We know that and you know that. shutterstock 445154743 300x200 Oktoberfest Must KnowsWe also know freshly baked pretzels go well with all types of beer. If you’re not feeling like having some bratwurst or pretzels, we have King Taco, grilled sandwiches and Pink’s Hot Dogs.  We’re celebrating from 6 p.m. – 11 p.m. every Friday and Saturday through Oct. 29 and we hope to see you here with your squad. #SquadGoals

3. Lots of music & dancing  If you want to get the most out of Oktoberfest at Fairplex, we recommend leaving your inhibitions at the door and doing some traditional (and not-so-traditional) dancing with our oom-pah-pah band. We’ll take you through the Chicken Dance, group dances and partner dances, and we will definitely have you up and on your feet by the end of the night! P.S. – Our cover bands are always a good time too!

4. Lyft Don’t drink and drive! We’ve partnered with Lyft to provide safe transportation from Oktoberfest. First-time users receive $20 off their first ride with promo code LACF! To buy tickets and learn more, visit OktoberfestatFairplex.com.

Round 2 Of Oktoberfest Is Here!

Usually I start my blogs with a greeting, but after the Dodgers were eliminated from the playoffs in the National League Division Series for the second season in a row, I cannot be cheerful and say, “Happy Friday!”

Since my heart still aches from last night’s defeat to the New York Mets, what better way to release some of my pain and frustration than attending a fun and welcoming event like Oktoberfest! icon smile Round 2 Of Oktoberfest Is Here!

In addition to doing the Chicken Dance, you can find us eating some delicious bratwurst, drinking craft beer and listening to Led Zepagain (Led Zeppelin Tribute).

If you don’t have any plans on this somber Friday evening and are also sad about the Dodgers losing, join me and my work friends at Oktoberfest! We’ll make sure you have a good time. Admission is only $5.

Tickets are available at www.OktoberfestAtFairplex.com
Reminder: Event is for 21+ and a valid ID is required.

Even though I am not the biggest beer lover, I do have to say Oktoberfest is one of my favorite events at Fairplex. Why? Because I love the food, the people I come across and the entertainment!

1459098 10152800861264450 2033865533816780716 n A Beerlicious Weekend at Oktoberfest [GIVEAWAY CLOSED]

Whenever I hear about a festival dedicated to beer and traditional German food and entertainment, you better believe I will be there. In fact, in the last two years I’ve visited more Oktoberfest festivals than I care to admit….but that’s not the point! Since I’ve become a professional Oktoberfest connoisseur, I will share with you three Oktoberfest tips I wish someone would have told me before chugging down beer after beer. Here they are:

Tip #1: Get to Oktoberfest EARLY: Since many of our guests tend to get here around 8 p.m., traffic can get pretty nasty around that time. In addition to waiting in heavy traffic, you’ll also have to wait a bit to walk through the security gate. I don’t know about you, but I would so much rather use the time wasted to wait at the actual event for the rest of my friends – with a beer in my hand, of course! Arriving early to Oktoberfest not only guarantees you’ll get the seats of your choice, but it also means you’ll feel a tad happier by the time you and your friend reunite.

Tip #2: Eat Something After Every 2-3 drinks: Waking up with a headache from drinking too much is one of the worst things someone could go through! This is why I urge all of you to eat plenty of food when you come visit us. I’m sure you all know this, but when you are drinking 32 oz beers that fill you up, you can easily forget to eat. Some of the foods we have at this event include: bratwurst, knockwurst, sweet corn, German potato pancakes, potato salad, pretzels, pickles and King Taco! Also, don’t forget to drink plenty of water. Repeat after me: “Water and food are my friends!”

Tip #3: Don’t Be Shy: If your family or friends are lagging and don’t want to come with you, just come to Oktoberfest alone. J Sure, it may feel a bit weird at first, but you have to remember you are here to have a good time and to take a break from the daily routine. Plus, you never know who you’ll meet here. You can run into an old friend or meet a really cool group of people and drink together for the rest of the evening. The possibilities are endless.

Other Tips

  • Bring Cash – You never know when you’re going to need it.
  • Take lots of pictures and get social with us by tagging us on social media. Our official hashtag is: #OktoberfestLA.
  • If you know you will drink a lot, use Uber or make sure a family member or friend can get you home safely.
  • Do not bring valuables.
  • Forget about everything and just have FUN!

Oktoberfest is a really fun event at Fairplex. We have authentic German food, refreshing beer and amazing music and cover bands.

If you have a chance to swing by this weekend or next, do so! You won’t regret it. The ambiance is groups of friends, families (no minors, of course!) and couples!

We want you to experience Oktoberfest at Fairplex for yourself, so we are giving away 2 sets of the following:

Upland Lemon Festival Recap

Upland Lemon Festival 2015: The 19th annual Upland Lemon Festival was held in the city’s downtown this past weekend.

Residents of the area and lemon lovers from surrounding cities came out to enjoy all of the ‘lemony’ foods, carnival rides, games and diverse contests ranging from pie eating to dancing!

Despite the power outages, rains and incredible crowds, families and friends really enjoyed themselves and the opportunity to shop around and support local businesses. In fact, this year, the festival drew in more than 60,000 people during its three-day run, which is something to be very proud of! icon wink Upland Lemon Festival Recap
