Weekend Recap: Learning & playing

We like to share our weekend experiences through the eyes of our guests! ICYMI, here’s a quick look at what we had the pleasure of hosting:

Spring in The Farm
Our annual celebration of all things agriculture was a huge success! More than 1,000 guests of all ages visited The Farm at Fairplex and learned about the ins and outs of one of America’s largest industries. From animals to food tastings, gardening workshops to hay baling demonstrations, the fun and learning were non-stop all day.

Discover the Dinosaurs UNLEASHED
Meanwhile in Expo Hall 4, learning of a different — bigger — scope was taking place in the form of life-size dinosaurs, fossil digs and prehistoric fun for the kids. Discover the Dinosaurs UNLEASHED provided the perfect blend of entertainment and education as guests went back in time to when dinosaurs roamed the earth.

SoCal Sports Club Soccer Match
Fairplex has soccer fields! That’s right — we’ve revamped part of our infield into gorgeous grassy fields perfect for soccer. Soccer team Southern California Sports Club (SCSC) now calls Fairplex their home turf, and they had their first ever home game Saturday night against the Riverside Coras.

Although SCSC lost to the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) Southwest Conference leaders Deportivo Coras 2-1, the game was exciting to the very end on both sides.

We had a blast learning, living and playing this weekend on our campus. See what’s coming up next at Fairplex.com!

For the third straight year, Red Bull Straight Rhythm took over Fairplex this past weekend for the most unique race in the world of professional motocross. Fans from all across the SoCal visited our campus with family and friends to cheer their favorites riders. This Supercross game changer took place on a 1/2-mile “unwound” racetrack — no turns, just a half-mile-long straight rhythm section. This year featured a revised format where practice, qualifying and racing all took place on the same day, with the final taking place at night under the lights to crown the 2016 Red Bull Straight Rhythm champion.

Congratulations to Marvin Musquin for winning the 2016 Red Bull Straight Rhythm’s Open Class and to Shane McElrath for winning the Lite Class!

Fairplex Weekend Recap: Oktoberfest Opens

Our campus seems strangely quiet after the festivities of the past weekend. Keep reading to see what happened at Fairplex:

Oktoberfest Opens
Our biggest event, Oktoberfest at Fairplex, opened to the masses on Friday night. The Festhalle boomed with oom-pah-pah music as guests crowded around our long tables with their steins of beer and German food.

The Plaza is open for the less traditional fun — rock music, King Taco and more beer (naturally.) We feature a different tribute band every weekend of Oktoberfest. Led Zepagain helped us kick off the fun.

And last but not least, this year we opened up the Dance Halle, home to DJ Schlagen who put his modern musical spin on Oktoberfest. Needless to say, it was a packed house.

It was a weekend full of dancing, games, food and plenty of toasts to go around. It starts again this Friday! Visit oktoberfestatfairplex.com for more info, including tickets, hours and pricing.

California RV Show
Across the street from Oktoberfest, the 64th Annual Giant RV Show opened to road travel enthusiasts. Guests shopped RV homes, new products, spoke with vendors, and networked with fellow travelers. Check out one YouTuber’s vlog capturing the opening day activities:

Best of the Best Karate Tournament
Rounding out our weekend of fun was the Best of the Best Tournament. Dozens of martial arts students competed in a number of tournaments, held here at Fairplex. Congratulations to all the champions of this event!

Thanks for joining us for our weekend recap! We’re already counting down the days to this upcoming weekend’s fun. To see what’s coming up next, visit our Events Calendar at Fairplex.com.
