…and all of a sudden, it was May. Sure, it’s overcast now, but it won’t be long until the temperatures start to rise and another month of fun events begins. Here’s what we have coming up:

may May at FairplexRoss / McCracken Learning Expo (May 6): This free, family-friendly event celebrates the exciting aspects of science, math, the arts and education as a whole.

Students can participate in hands-on educational exhibitions while parents can learn how to get their children into college. Free parking + admission; located in Expo Hall 9. Open 12 – 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 6.

This event is co-sponsored by Fairplex, Pomona’s Promise, Pomona Unified School District and the City of Pomona.

West Coast Historical Militaria Collectibles Show (May 11-12): Explore a huge assortment of militaria antiques and collectibles covering a span of time periods and countries. Adults: $10, Kids: $5; active military and their families are free! Parking is $12 at Gate 17, located off Fairplex Drive. The show is located in Expo Hall 4. Foam Glow 5K (May 12): While treasure hunters are busy exploring the aisles of the Militaria show during the day, runners and weekend warriors can find their fill of fun at the Foam Glow 5K throughout the rest of our campus at night! This fun run invites guests to run, dance, skip and stroll through a three-mile course of glow-in-the-dark foam. For registration and additional event info, visit here.

48th District Schools’ Agriculture & Nutrition Fair (May 15-19): If you know Fairplex, you know that agriculture is a big focus for us. We’re thrilled to once again host the 48th District Schools’ Agriculture & Nutrition Fair this month!

This week-long event features thousands of agricultural-themed projects from 100+ schools in Los Angeles, as well as exhibits from various ag organizations from the county, showing our agriculture (water, plant s, bees, fiber, food an dairy) affect our everyday lives.

Mission Circuit Dog Show (May 24-28): The final weekend of May goes to the dogs… literally. The Mission Circuit Dog Show returns to Fairplex with 8,000 competing for awards and t op honors. Admission is FREE! Click here for more info.

Canine Scent Work Competition (May 26-27): Scent Work is a sport that celebrates dogs and their innate sense of smell. Based on the work of professional detection dogs,

The Scent Work competition challenges dogs to search (sniff) for cotton swabs saturated in essential oils in a search area. When the dog finds the scent, he/she communicates the find to the handler, who communicates this with the judge.

It’s all things equine this weekend, from seminars to shopping, riding demos to networking. Learn about the latest training, tools and resources available to provide your horse with the best possible care. Even if you’re only a horse enthusiast, it’s a great way to learn more about the equine industry and meet others who share your passion. Big Spring Home & Garden Show (Fri – Sun): If you’ve been meaning to start a new home improvement project or are renovating your home altogether, the Home & Garden Show is a great place to get started. Dodge LX SpringFest (Sat): Check out hundreds of Chrysler and Dodge vehicles — or bring your own to race on the 1/4 mile drag strip at our Auto Club Raceway. Dodge LX SpringFest features the Dodge Thrill Ride (for those who have ever wondered what it would be like to live out Fast & Furious), a Chrysler Kids Zone, and of course, tons of vehicles to see. Train Public Runs (Sat & Sun): Both the RailGiants Train Museum and the Fairplex Garden Railroadare open to the public this weekend, rain or shine! Visit the giant, historic locomotives at the RailGiants museum Saturday & Sunday, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., and the miniature, detailed landscapes of the garden railroad Sunday, 11 a.m – 4 p.m. Free parking and entry for both events at Gate 1, off of McKinley Ave.

Beverly Hills Dog Show
The Kennel Club of Beverly Hills rolled out the red carpet to celebrate the city’s finest purebred dogs. You can watch the televised version of the event on April 1 (Easter Sunday) on USA Network!




Pomona Swap Meet
The Pomona Swap Meet returned to Fairplex early Sunday morning for car enthusiasts to shop and swap.

March at Fairplex

We’ve heard more than one person say it: Where did February go?! It feels like January lasted a lifetime, but last month flew by in the blink of an eye. Into March we go. Here is what we have planned for this month:

march March at Fairplex Beverly Hills Dog Show (March 3 & 4): The Kennel Club of Beverly Hills Dog Show is filming at Fairplex THIS weekend! The show itself will debut on USA Network on Easter Sunday (April 1).

You can watch it on TV… or you can be at the taping itself! Spectators are welcome to come to the show and see more than 1,000 purebred dogs compete for Best in Show and other categories. Admission is FREE. More info here.

Quilt, Craft & Sewing Festival (March 8-10): The Quilt, Craft & Sewing Festival returns to Fairplex this week with all things sewing, quilting, crafting and needle art. Shop top-quality supply vendors, attend free seminars and workshops and participate in daily door prize drawings. Admission is FREE!

Dodge LX SpringFest (March 10): Check out hundreds of Chrysler and Dodge vehicles — or bring your own to race on the 1/4 mile drag strip at our Auto Club Raceway. Modern Pentathlon (March 26-30): Modern Pentathlon World Cup returns to Fairplex at the end of this month. This international event brings athletes from around the globe here to Fairplex, where they’ll compete in a series of sports: running, swimming, shooting, fencing and horsemanship. As the only sport created specifically for the Olympics (first joined in 1912), Pentathletes are considered to be some of the top athletes in the world. Reptile Super Show (Sat & Sun): Expo Hall 4 is being taken over by reptiles this Saturday and Sunday! Shop reptiles, amphibians, turtles, and their supplies, cages, lights, supplements and more. The show will also include educational workshops so you can learn how to best take care of your pets.If you love reptiles, this show is for you!

Tickets are $14 for adults; $9 adults for kids 12 & under. Tickets can be purchased online or at the door. Parking $12 at Gate 17. Please leave your pets at home!

Pacific Standard Time LA / LA Art Exhibit (Sat & Sun): In 2017 our art gallery, the Millard Sheets Art Center, had the honor of hosting a part of the PST LA / LA movement: One Path Two Journeys. This particular exhibition, titled “One Path Two Journeys” showcases the work of renowned Chicano art leaders Judithe Hernández and Patssi Valdez. Both women have produced beautiful bodies of work throughout the years and now, for the first time, you can see their journeys side by side.

The exhibition is open and free to the public on Saturdays and Sundays, noon – 4 p.m. Parking is free at Gate 1. For more information regarding the exhibit, and other Millard Sheets Art Center activities, click here.

Giant LA Winter RV Show (Now – Sun): Road trip season is just around the corner! Shop deep discounts at the annual Giant RV LA Winter Show. Admission is FREE — just be ready to browse all things RV-related! Event takes place in our White Ave. lot. Click here for more information.

Oktoberfest at Fairplex
Our annual celebration of all things beer and brats got off to a great start this weekend! Thanks to everyone who came out to dance, eat, drink and be merry with us. The fun starts up again on Friday the 13th. More info at OktoberfestatFairplex.com!





Felinefest Cat Show
The Santa Monica Cat Club brought their second show of the year to Fairplex this past weekend.


California RV Show
The California RV Show opened on Friday with hundreds of RVs on display. It’s been fun watching this event grow over the years to now include live music, celebrity sightings, and more seminars, vendors and travel brands on display.



Best of the Best Karate Tournament
Chozen Martial Arts Academy hosted an all-ages karate tournament inside one of our expo halls. Congratulations to all the winners!

The LA County Fair has come and gone, but we’re still as busy as ever! We have a lot of big events coming your way. Keep reading to see what’s in store:

october5 October at Fairplex Oktoberfest at Fairplex (Oct. 6 – 21): Prost! Oktoberfest at Fairplex returns for another month of dancing, drinking and eating. Do the Chicken Dance with our oom-pah-pah band, rock out with our tribute bands and finish the night on the dance floor with DJ Schlagen. Into the Black Haunted Attraction (Oct. 6 – Nov 1): We’re bringing the Halloween festivities to Fairplex all month thanks to the new Into The Black attraction. Start the experience with a short horror film documenting a paranormal team’s excursion into the woods as they search for the legendary Black house, then follow their footsteps into the mansion… completely alone. 65th Annual California RV Show (Oct. 6-15): The largest RV Show in the West is back at Fairplex with 1,300+ RVs to browse, as well as vendors selling RV accessories, vacation packages and travel services. Red Bull Straight Rhythm (Oct. 21): Red Bull Straight Rhythm is back for more head-to-head motocross racing. Watch pro athletes rae down an “unwoulnd” 1/2 mile-long track. No turns, just speed, air and skill. For more information visit redbull.com

NHRA Twilight Cruise (Aug. 2): The NHRA Museum’s monthly Twilight Cruise is tomorrow! Bring your own hot rod or classic car (entry $5) and hang out with other car enthusiasts. Vans Warped Tour (Aug. 6): What would summer be without Vans Warped Tour? Check out up-and-coming indie talent + major established rock artists. The countdown to summer is officially on! It’s around this time that we start rolling up our sleeves and really getting ready for Fair season. But before Fair, there are plenty of other events at Fairplex to enjoy! Here’s what’s happening this month:

Fairplex Events derby 150x150 May at Fairplex Kentucky Derby Buffet (May 6): Our on-site sports bar, Finish Line Sports Bar & Grill will be hosting a special buffet during the Kentucky Derby! Fill up your plates and enjoy the races from the comfort of your seat. Spaces are going fast — call for reservations at (909) 65-4151.

10th Annual Ross/McCracken Learning Expo (May 7): We’re pleased to host the 10th annual Ross/McCracken Learning Expo, a must-do for families! Kids will have the opportunity to participate in hands-on learning in the subjects of science, mathematics, the arts and other educational topics. Admission is FREE! More information available here.

so cal bbq bash logo NC 150x150 May at Fairplex SoCal BBQ Bash (May 20): The SoCal BBQ Bash & Expo is debuting at Fairplex this month and we can’t wait! They’re bringing cooking classes, demos and workshops, live entertainment, seminars and a BBQ competition to our grounds.

It’s the perfect start to summer (we think of it as a Memorial Day Weekend pregame) and we’re ready to host. For more information on the SoCal BBQ Bash, click here.

Fairplex Events missioncircuit May at Fairplex Mission Circuit Dog Show (May 25-29): The Mission Circuit Dog Show returns for its annual Memorial Day Weekend event, with competitions culminating Monday with top dogs honored. Come see more than 100 breeds and 8,000 dogs competing in the show. More info here.

Other Events: The NHRA Twilight Cruise, Food Truck Thursdays, Palates & Palettes, Hot Tub & Swim Spa Show, soccer games, fun runs and plenty of other events are coming to Fairplex this month as well! Needless to say, we will be quite busy.
