Agriculture & Nutrition Fair Comes to Fairplex

Today is the last day of the annual 48th District Schools’ Agriculture & Nutrition Fair at Fairplex, and we could not be happier to have seen hundreds of students have a great time with their families and friends while on our grounds.

This very special agricultural educational fair features thousands of individual and classroom entries from hundreds of schools in the greater Los Angeles area.

The fair brings students, families, educators and community members together to celebrate the achievements of local students (pre-K through high school) and teachers and educates the attendees about the importance of agriculture and nutrition in California.

Exhibits include art, photography, beneficial insects and worms, birdhouses, crafts, horticulture, hydroponics, mission models, paintings, posters, quilts, quilt blocks, sawhorses, scarecrows, gardens, terrariums and trout-in-the-classroom projects.

In addition to seeing all of the other exhibits, students were able to enjoy a petting zoo, our lovely garden and a Spelling Bee contest!

2015 Los Angeles International Wine Competition

The Los Angeles International Wine Competition officially began this morning at our Sheraton Fairplex Hotel and Conference Center.

Since its inception, the competition has maintained the highest standards of integrity and professionalism, earning USA Today’s recognition as one of the Top 5 wine competitions in the United States. Due to the competition’s popularity, this year over 3,000 wines from around the globe will be sniffed, swirled and tasted by a panel of approximately 85 international judges.

Prize-winning entries will not only be on display and available for tasting at Cheers – L.A.’s Wine, Spirits, Beer & Food Festival, but also at the LA County Fair. Fair warning: be prepared to have a first-class experience while at our grounds!

For more information on the Los Angeles International Wine Competition visit www.lawinecomp.com. Winners will be announced later this month.
