Food News: Craft sodas

December 10, 2014

Craft beers have long been a favorite with the foodie crowd, with its fair share of festivals, bars, tasting events and competitions (including our own Los Angeles International Beer Competition.)

But what about craft sodas?

Caleb’s Kola

Meet Pepsi’s newest product, Caleb’s Kola. The new beverage comes with its’ own website, clearly designed for the hipsters the brand hopes to attract. The new craft sodas are made from Fair Trade cane sugar, kola nuts (a unique, caffeinated nut originating from Africa’s tropical rainforests), and a blend of spices from around the world, with just a hint of citrus.

McKinley’s Grille has been serving craft farm sodas for awhile now, incorporating a number of our vegetables, fruits and herbs into our specialized drinks. Current flavors include:

  • Pomegranate and farm lemon grass
  • Oro blanco grapefruit and lavendar
  • Green tea and lemon
  • Prickly pear and chocolate mint
We think these sodas go great with our lunch and dinner meals and we’re excited to see how Caleb’s Kola takes off in the food industry too.

It’s a novel concept that could quickly turn into a must-have at restaurants and bars. Craft sodas… what do you think?
