L.A. Weekender: dineLA Restaurant Week, Escape the Nightmares 5k & Sunday’s Big Game

January 31, 2014

Happy Friday! We can’t believe it’s already the end of January. We have a few ideas for you on how to kick off the first day of February. Whether you want to dine, drink, run or wander, there is plenty to do in the City of Angels.

Restaurant Week: Today is your last chance to jump on the madness of dineLA’s Restaurant Week. A selection of specially priced prix-fixe lunch and dinner items are still available from LA’s best restaurants including spots in downtown, Santa Monica, Pasadena, Hollywood and the beach cities. If you’re feeling your inner foodie trying to get out, you should start your Friday night at one of these spots. A full list of locations are available here.

Escape the Nightmares 5k: Dark shadows, weird noises, monsters chasing you… not your typical 5k obstacle course. Escape the Nightmares 5k is coming to Fairplex, challenging runners to make it through 3.1 miles of terror without getting caught by the things that go bump in the night. If that sounds like an ideal way to spend your Saturday night, click here to register.

Chinese New Year: If watching football all afternoon is the equivalent of sitting through a documentary on cement, Chinatown is having their annual Lunar New Year celebration on Sunday. Kick off the Year of the Horse in style, with live music, cultural workshops and performances and activities for the kiddies. And of course, food will be running aplenty: street kitchens, gourmet food trucks, Chinese restaurants and snacks for blocks.

The Big Game: Buffalo wings, beer, pizza, jerseys, commercials and the game itself. If you’re like the majority of America, your face will probably be glued to a screen to watch the Broncos vs. Seahawks play in the biggest game of the season. Finish Line Sports Grill will be throwing a party on Sunday starting at 11 a.m. 70 flat-screens, indoor and outdoor dining locations, food & drink specials, sports trivia and raffle prizes go all day long. Shoot some $3.00 Fireball whiskey shots or split a dozen hot wings and a pitcher of craft beer for $18, all while watching the big game. It is Sunday Funday, after all!

The Fairplex L.A. Weekender highlights events throughout Los Angeles County, from the heart of downtown to the beach cities to the IE.
