A Delicious Tradition

September 4, 2011

If only this blog included smells! The BBQ competition happening over in FairView Farms right now is a delight for the senses. Grill masters from all over Southern California are putting their BBQ “chops” to the test. We caught up with a couple of them… all of whom have been entering their saucy and savory treats for years now. They all started out as weekend warriors of the flame, so as you’re throwing shrimp, burgers or veggies on the “barbie” this Labor Day just think you could be here with theses grilling greats next year!

Scott and Misty Cushman, from Orange, have been grilling up good eats for 22 years at the Fair. They are entering a citrus shark (the first time they’ve done shark) this year. It’s also their anniversary today! No better place than the Fair to spend it.” Scott’s sweet and savory shrimp has won several awards at the Fair, but has since been put into retirement. Now his fellow competitors demand he bring it for everyone to munch on while they grill.
Bud from Claremont is entering his 15th Fair! He started out grilling as a hobby and has now won 1st place three times and even taken the Grand Prize! Bud’s bacon-wrapped potatoes and tri-tip smell amazing and are sure to be a force to be reckoned with.
