Be A Hero

September 7, 2008

The LA County Fair has teamed up with the American Red Cross to host a blood drive Tuesday, Sept. 9, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Sheraton Fairplex in Pomona, right next to the Fair. Parking at the Sheraton for the blood drive is free. Besides giving the gift of life, donors will receive a free ticket to the Fair for Wednesday, Sept. 10. If donors can’t make it Wednesday, they’ll receive a coupon for $2 off a future visit to the Fair.
Donors can make an appointment by visiting www.givelife.org and entering the sponsor name Fairplex. So go give blood and come back to the Fair on Wednesday.

  1. so you have to drive to the fair twice to enjoy it would take me 3o dollars of gas x 2 to go considering i live 80 miles away i think it would be cheaper to just drive once but you would love my blood

  2. regarding hero days wed. sept 10 are the nurses included in this or are we the forgotten heroes we except these patients and stablize them and get them ready for surgery and or cath lab ect. and may spend hours on one patient and family

  3. Hi Me – so it’s understandable that you may not want to drive out twice, for blood drive then to redeem your free ticket to the Fair on Wednesday. Perhaps you can find a blood donation location closer to your home and still be a Lifesaving Hero.
Lynne, show your nurse’s badge at the ticket booth on Sept. 10 – you may be able to get in for the discount price. It wouldn’t hurt to try.
