UP 4014 Big Boy’s Final Farewell

January 21, 2014

You watched the Union Pacific 4014 a.k.a “Big Boy” travel across Fairplex on a mile-long railroad built just for her. Some of you even came to see this powerful engine move for the first time in more than 20 years. And now, it’s time to say a final goodbye.

Big Boy will be making the journey from Los Angeles to Cheyenne, Wyoming this year. She will be restored to her full glory during her time up there and although we will miss her greatly, know it is for the best!

You can see her off on her journey at the Covina Metrolink station on Sunday, January 26th from 7 – 8 a.m. before she takes off on her next adventure. It has been an honor to host this piece of history on our grounds and we eagerly await a possible return in the future!

Visit the Union Pacific website for more information on Big Boy.

  1. Will there be public access to the fairgrounds late Saturday / early Sunday to watch the 4014 being pulled out on to Metrolink trackes?
